03.01.08 - Second Alarm - Bayonne, NJ.

At 2125 hours Bayonne Fire Dispatch transmitted a box for 20 Pulaski St. Came in as an alarm activation, Batt 1,Engine 6, 5 & Ladder Tower 5 ( riding for ladder 3 thats OOS) was on the initial box, as E-6 was arriving they saw heavy smoke coming from a 200 X 300 warehouse, Batt 1 reported heavy smoke coming from the roof on the A-B Corner and order the full box transmiited bringing Tower Ladder 2 & Engine 1 to the scene plus Enging 2 as the rit company. As companys started to open the overheads doors at the A-B corner heavy smoke was coming from the large doors as they were open. With that Deputy 1 order a 2nd alarm as he arrived bring Tower Ladder 1 and Engine 3 to scene. Sprinkler system was activated whick luckly kept the heavy fire in check in the A-B corner in an room/office area. Fire was quickly k/d but the entire warehouse was filled with smoke. As crews were overhauling & venting the warehouse they notice some of the warehouse stock in the area of fire appeared to be chemical ptoducts and cylinder tanks so Bayonne Haz-Mat was requested to scene to monitor the area and check for any type on product release. By 2300 Hours situation was under control and companys were sloely released, Jersey City Fire Department provided cover for Bayonne. Photo and Story by Bob Scollan.
